My old G-5 works just fine (congratulations Apple) but I'm, of course unable to upgrade anything. So I needed an Intel machine and this was the least expensive option. Unfortunately, however, Apple doesn't allow for upgrades to the computer processor and as your computer becomes outdated the only option is to either sell it for a pittance, give it away or trash it. I bought this to replace a desktop G-5 that was purchased in 20 bucks!. Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned They work and are the fastest on the planet, without having to jump through hoops everytime you want to do something. There is a reason why almost all industry professionals use, and have for years, Apple computers. You will not get a better power per dollar machine, especially if you are looking Microsofts way. The only downfall I see, is that if you are a gamer.

If you are tired of having to fight with your Windows machine everytime you want to use or install hardware or software. I cannot say enough good things about the Macintosh computing environment. Just plug and play, in the easiest sense imaginable. Without the need for any external componenets. These systems are easy, safe(no viruses, no mallware or spyware) and can be used direct with your modem, as a router(Macs automatically issue ips to any wired or wireless clients it detects and you can set logins and passwords, along with security features, as easily as any router on the market.īasically, an all-in-one for all of your computing needs. With hardware, you just install and most everything just works without the need to download drivers. No longer am I fighting just to get an app running or issues with new or old hardware. I bougt this system for the ease of use that is associated with Mac products. I work in the music industry and had been using a 4 core 4Ghz i7 with 16GBs of RAM for years and never ran out of speed or had issues running a dozen music related apps. Thunderbolt and USB 3.1 cards can also be installed, if needed, too. The system has USB 2.0 and Sata II native, though you can buy and install a USB 3/ Sata III card for less than $50 and kill two birds with one s tone. I am running OSX El Capitans latest offering and have Sierra ready to install(all that you need is a Bluetooth 4.0/ Wireless AC card that can be had for less than $100). there is no reason to buy the newer machines. mini house or enjoy overpaying for the newer, smaller Mac Pros at $4000+.

Truthfully, if you cannot get by on 8 3Ghz cores(upgradeable to 12 3.2 Ghz cores) & 32GBs(upgradeable to 64GBs) of RAM with unlimited videocard options via eBay(with some of the newest, fastest GPU chipsets) in either the music or television/ movie industry, then you are truly doing something wrong. Unless youre living in a tiny flat in NYC and are out of space, there is no reason to spend extra $ for the newer model Mac Pros
